The Scottish Provident children's cycling league in the Isle of Man gets underway in April 2006 with a 'come and try it' session, and runs all the way through to August 31st. Children can enjoy up to twenty weeks of racing - weather permitting.

Held every Tuesday evening, 6pm to dusk, on the 0.8km (approx half a mile) perimeter track at the National Sports Centre in Douglas. The league's weekly programme consists of a variety of scratch and handicap races to suit all age groups up to junior level.

The opening event will be a "come and try it" night to give newcomers the chance to test the water. In 2003 over 500 youngsters took part in the series, with an average of 213 turning out for each round.

Scottish Provident International is sponsoring the competition for the eleventh year in succession. In 2003 the Manx Viking Wheelers, who started the event in 1992, formed Team Scottish Provident Isle of Man specifically for the league's competitors.

You don't have to be fast, or fit, to enjoy cycling - you just need to have a bike, a helmet, and your parents consent, and off you go!!!

The event organiser is Dot Tilbury. She is assisted by willing volunteers, who each do an important job to ensure that the racing takes place.
